Grandparents' Day at Quailwood School-Oct 2011

Josh and Ava are both in Mrs. Bowles class. She taught Kaela and Carly last year when they were in kindergarten. I am so fortunate to have such fun grandchildren. I just love them!!!!!

Carly hugged Kaela and were ever so happy to smile for the camera. They are good friends and adorable granddaughters.

Papa Steve was able to attend Grandparents' Day with me this year. Lots of grandparents were at McDonald'sbuying Happy Meals: chicken mc nuggets, choc. milt, fries, and apple. The most important part: the coveted toy.

After such a wonderful afternoon in Bakersfield, we came home and rode my bike; Steve gave it to me for Mother's Day. (Notice the decorations on our house for Halloween. Didn't Elle do a great job?)

181st Semi Annual General Conference

Elle and I are focused; we want this cake to be spectacular for the little ones. My new tradition is to make a conference cake.

I have always invited the missionaries to share part of Conference. I usually have them over for conference waffles but this year they came for the pinata and cake. I'm celebrating all the fall and winter birthdays now. During April conference we'll celebrate spring and summer birthdays. The sister missionaries are lighting candles so we can sing Happy Birthday.

During the 1st and 2nd sessions on Saturday we had pizza at the park. Yummy!

We had Round Table-King Arthur and Little Ceasar- cheese only. Everyone's needs were met.

When I went to pick up the pizzas, Boy Scouts were selling popcorn. I had to support the troop, so I bought two bags of popcorn 18.00 each, my have prices gone up. I must admit, I did announce to them that I have three son who earned the rank of Eagle. I was so pleased to have such a declaration.

After the final session, we had a pinata filled with snakes, insects, pencils, erasers and a few bags of M&Ms. The grandchildren enjoyed it immensely.

We ate delicious sandwiches, chips, and a special slush drink.

Jarod Richard is 2 1/2 months old. He is as good as gold.

Elle is soon to hear where she will serve the Lord on a mission. Aren't they the cutest? My youngest daughter holding Jarod's youngest son.

At birth he looked just like his daddy, or at least his nose. What a handsome baby!

It's tradition to take a picture with each new addition and all the other children. It didn't look so crowded when they only had two children. Number four makes them full or should I say a complete family.

I couldn't wait to hold and squeeze him tight. I'm wearing a blue button that states: It's a BOY!

Megan's folks, Kathy and Doug Skinner, came for two weeks. I don't know who has the biggest smile, big sister and grandparents?

Jarod was blessed before Mama and Papa went back to Texas (Doug is holding Jarod).

Isn't Carly's smile priceless? Jack is wondering when we will stop taking pictures. Doesn't Megan look fabulous? Baby Jarod is 10 days old. There's no denying that Josh is a mama's boy- father like son. I love it!

Trent (1 yr), Wendy, Adam, Jarrett (4yrs), Landon (7 yrs) just relocated to Bakersfield. Adam is Aunt Sharon's oldest son.

Grace (2yrs), Autumn, Manuel, and Gabriel (3 yrs) came from Corcoran.

Destination-Monterey Bay Aquarium

First task-rent a large van to accommodate the crowd.

Here are the darling cherubs (Carly, Josh next to me, Jack, Ave, and Kaela). I'm wearing my traveling vest. Steve bought me two for my birthday; one light weight summer fashion and one dark heavier weight for winter travel. Lots of pockets means no purse to lug around:)

It was a great trip. The three hour trek to the coast was a snap because we were all together singing and laughing.

Kaweah Lake was fun too. The adults watched the skills of the little ones jumping off the table.

Aunt Lydia brought back bracelets from Samoan island and gave them to the girls. Needless to say it was a big hit. Kaela in purple and Carly in pink. Carly has her stuffed turtle souvenir on her lap.

Grace's 1st Birthday,Gen. Conference and Easter

Grace is ONE today, April 2, 2010.

We are excited to share in the fun with Autumn's children.

Kaela couldn't control her hugs and kisses. Grace liked it, but not as much as Kaela.

The frosting was a bright pink and topped with white M&Ms.

Kaela has the cutest smile.

Except we placed blue M&Ms on top of Gabriel's just because there was sooo much pink and girly stuff everywhere.

Ava kept trying to blow out her candle,she huffed and puffed until we finally just blew it out for her.

We watched General Conference via LDS.ORG streaming. We attached the computer to our stereo so we could hear it; I loved ite.

Coloring Easter Eggs was fun. Seeing how many holes Gabriel punched into the egg before it was colored was exciting.

Ava kept saying she wants more color on her egg.

Clarissa said to her girls, "Say thank you to Grandma Tess for the Easter Baskets." Kaela immediately retorted, "Mom, the Easter Bunny brought our baskets not Grandma.

Gabriel was over joyed with the prospects of sweets treats..... chocolate.

Isla Belle is only 8 months old, she crawled around and watched everyone else. Next year she'll love her Easter basket and eat all she can stuff into those sweet cheeks.

Hearst Castle Feb 2010

Hearst Castle is right off the ocean. It was a misty day.

Autumn and Clarissa went with me. It was sooooo fun.

I wish it weren't so overcast and rainy. This picture of the castle doesn't do it justice; it is enormous.

This is the famous outdoor Greek Goddess pool.

There at statutes all over inside and outside the castle.

This is a beautiful fireplace but my camera ran out of juice.

32nd Anniversary March 25, 2010

Notice the "32," it is representing our 32nd anniversary. I gave Steve a trip to Laguna Seca to drive his car on the world famous track .

Some people take "driving" on the track very seriously. Notice the guy sporting the beige racing suit.

We had such a great day.

The next day we went to Monterrey and had a wonderful breakfast at Schooners. That's the ocean in the background.

After eating, we went window shopping. I cracked up when I saw a Harley Davidson shirt with a macaw riding a Harley bike. What a perfect souvenir.

Monterey Bay Aquarium Day trip-Wilsteads 2010

The day was picturesque. I bought a Granparents pass last April. We could visit again with no extra charge. Clarissa drove Damon's company car so it was a fun, cheap trip. We were celebrating Clarissa's 29th birthday.

This is our second trip to the Aquirium. We went last April. The girls love the feeesh (Ava's pronunciation).

Kaela asked Ava to get off her. Ava reports, "No, I not done." She was resting on a comfortable spot.

Isla Belle is always smiling. She is an easy baby.

Lunch at our favorite restaurant was a great treat.

After Christmas 2009- Texas

We had a great visit with the Texans. Jarod gave all of us Harley attire.

First we had to open presents. I made the dress for Carly and matching vests for the boys. We made the annual trip to JC Penney for the family portrait.

Visiting the Alamo with Mieka and Tony was just one activity.

San Antonio temple grounds were intriguing for the little ones. The pool outside the front entrance held their interest. (No one feel in.) Megan and Jarod were teaching them to look but not to touch and remember to be reverent because we were on sacred ground. I feel blessed to be able to witness such fine parenting.

We went to Zelpher park and rode the train.

We played and played and played.

I think Josh loved the planes the best!!!

My bedroom decorated with blue and brown paint (inspired by Catherine's favorite colors).

I spray painted the bedframe lavendar to match the pink walls.

Grandma Val commissioned the painting above the bed. I accented the room is light blue and brown with flower stencils.

The picture above the bed is a family portrait taken 6 years ago. This room is blue and yellow. It is obvious I only know how to do one design-straight lines. I also made a cover for the sewing machine to match.

Elle's been wanting Cheesecake from Tahoe Joe's for some time so her birthday was the perfect excuse to endulge in this deeeeelicious dessert. It was fabulous!

Aunt Jana began living with us a few months ago. She loves any dessert, "It's my favorite."

2009 October General Conference with Wilsteads

2009 brought a new way for us to view General Conference-computer with internet access-LDS.org.

Breakfast filled with tons of bacon for the bacon mongers.

Between sessions we played and painted and played some more.

After conference we watched movies.

It was a wonderful conference and terrific time with my darling granddaugters.

Visiting the Texans- Fall 2009

Jarod picked me up from the airport and he drove me to my favorite spot in the whole world for lunch (no pun intended). You guessed it... Whole Foods. The corporate office in located in Austin, Texas; am I lucky or what! Not only did we eat a fabulous lobster bisque we bought deeeeeelicious desserts to enjoy with Megan and the children. They were simply devine and exquisite in design.

I also enjoyed visiting Carly's dance lessons. She of course was the best dancer among the group.

It was also fun to visit Jarod's work. I went a little crazy buying toys and clothes. Too fun for me.

His smile is worth a thousand words. I just had a marvelous visit.

Emmerson and Ashley married July 29, 2009

A match made in heaven....

Emm and Ashely wait for the judge, he was 10 minutes late.

They were married at the Visalia Courthouse by the Honorable Judge Vortman.

It was a sweet civil ceremony. Steve and I were privileged to be their witnesses.

Isla Belle Wilstead- July 7, 2009

Karon 52 years old, Clarissa 28 years old and Isla 4 weeks old. Being a grandmother is the greatest gift from God. I'm grateful to have another three generation picture.

2009 Coast Trip with Wilsteads

Easter weekend 2009 at the Coast

The Wilsteads came to the coast with us. We stayed at the Residenc Inn

Kaela became the official door opening, perfecting the key and green light.

Cannery Row was great fun. Toll House and Bubba Gump Restaurant were among our treats for the day.

The infamous 17 mile drive was as breathtaking as I had hoped.

John Steinbeck made Salinas, California bright spot for the coastline. He become famous and wealthy after he published The Grapes of Wrath.

Ava loves to laugh and get others to laugh with her.

Monterrey Bay Aquarium was the highlight of the weekend.
I thought Josh would love this picture of Nemo.

Sunglasses and umbrellas -who could ask for more? (Especially inside the aquarium!)

It was a beautiful weather all weekend.

The Jelly Fish display was my favorite. Ava loved getting wet with the plastic fish. She didn't like wearing the yellow apron to prevent her from becoming totally drenched with water but to no avail.

It was great fun at the aquarium. I'm looking forward to return trip.

The Coast with the WILSTEADS

We arrived at the Ronald Reagan Washington Airport and our first adventure was to get to the hotel via the Metro. The taxi was going to cost 25.00 each and the Metro was 1.35. That was a no brainer. Between the four of us we managed to get to the hotel (only 5 miles from the airport) without mishap.

The Metro was usually filled with more people; but it was midnight, so it's not that busy.

The Metro goes by that fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Residence Inn was a great hotel. Not only was the breakfast complimentary, dinner Monday through Wednesday was as well.

This is the buffet at the hotel. There were eggs, sausage, waffles, oatmeal and much more. We are celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary on Wednesday so we naturally enjoyed the free dinner. What a treat; free and deeeelicious.

I thought it was interesting at the light signal it gave the number of seconds you had to cross the street.

The Vietnam WALL was solemn for us. Needless deaths. Andy looked up a friend's name on the wall. They both were moved to tears; we didn't stay long, it weighed heavy upon them. Andy was drafted but got a school deferment and at the end of the semester he was to report for service. At the end of that semester the war efforts were beginning to wind down. It was a close call for him.

Mt.Vernon was a pleasant experience. The Washington estate was set upon a breath taking view of the Potomac river and rolling hills. It was actually purchased by a group of women who believed our President Washington's home should be a museum. His nephew was selling it for 250.000.00 in the 1800's because it was in such disarray. He couldn't keep up with the cost of repair. A group of women organized themselves and have continued to be in charge of the estate since then. The picture below shows the first president of that women's organization.

George and Martha raised her son's two youngest children as their own. The children's father had died unexpectedly, and their mother knew she couldn't raise all four children on her own, so she gave the youngest two to Martha to raise. George actually never had any children. Martha's first husband died and George married her with children.

The blue flag next to Steve is the flag that George Washington carried during the Revolutionary War. It had 13 stars representing the 13 original colonies. This is where George and his wife are buried.

My camera ran out of battery so I didn't get the actual memorials but this is the sign for the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial. It was so sad to see innocent women and children's names on the memorials.

Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum was probably Steve's favorite. It was fascinating listening to him talk about each gem, mineral, metal and everything in between. He was in his element. The Hope Diamond was truly exquisite.

I've messed up AGAIN, so I'm going to post this and forget adding all the other picture. I can't tell you how many hours I've wasted on this activity trying to upload pictures, but I'm finished. I just erased 30 pictures for the fifth time.....IT IS MADDENING. Know there is more to the trip. At any rate Andy, Rosanne, Steve and I had a wonderful time. My favorite photo was with President Obama. I just had it disappear on the screen and of course I'm such a novice I don't know how I messed it up, anyway a teacher I work with told the students I was invite to Washington DC to receive and award for Teacher of the Year. I posed with President Obama (life size poster)and had a great laugh over it. I was able to tell the students that I indeed posed next to Mr.Obama....I just didn't go into any great details. Toooooo Fun!!!!!!!

Christmas 2008-Newport, California

The first GIFT of Christmas is a deeeeeeeelicious New York cheesecake baked by Tim Tuitt-a real New Yorker. He has mastered the art of making cheesecakes. It is a delectable dessert. You guessed it- we traveled to Newport with our cheesecake.

NEWPORT COAST RESORT-Dec.27-Jan. 3,2009

The Texans arrive at the resort after a 20 hour trek across the country. Jarod was a trooper for driving straight through. Megan was the bigger trooper entertaining three little ones. Carly is the first one out the door to give us all lots of hugs and kisses.

OPENING PRESENTS:

Opening presents was soooooo fun. Megan gave me several copies of our very own Cover Girl- Carly was featured on the cover for December's issue of Austin Family magazine.

Steve's all-time favorite gift was the book made by Clarissa. I noticed him wiping away heartfelt tears while reading of her love for him.

Carly and Kaela loved the nightgowns I made for them. They wore them every night. Aren't they just the cutest.

I think the girls were having just as much fun opening Josh's present as he was having pushing the buttons to make the sounds for his tractor.

One of Carly's favorite books is Fancy Nancy. She turned 4 years old in October and has already begun a love of reading.

Josh loves to ride the luggage cart. He is modeling his pajamas I made him. The fabric is filled with Dalmatian puppies wearing Christmas hats.

J.C.Penney's - Annual family photos

We're at JCPenney's getting family photos. I made dresses for the girls and Megan purchased darling outfits for the boys. I was thrilled that the dresses fit perfectly. (I was a little nervous because they weren't around to try them on when I was making them.) Don't forget to check out their pictures on Smiles by Wire.

LOS ANGELES TEMPLE:

When picking up Navarre and Catherine we took a detour to see the Los Angeles temple. The Christmas lights are beautiful. We have a photo of Jarod at age 8 at this same bronze statue. (I know these pictures are dark but I have to tell you the moment was very bright.)

DINERS, DRIVES, & DIVES

Steve was in charge of navigating restaurants. He did a great job. Each place was fabbbbbbbulous.

While awaiting our table at the famous Rain Forest Cafe, Carly, Megan and Josh look at all different fish.

Clarissa needed to be fed so we moved quickly to Claim Jumper. (She is 3 months pregnant and you know how it is when you need to eat.) That's Jack walking to our table, he was tired of waiting on us. He wanted fooooood!

Ava is on Aunt Megan's lap awaiting our turn to be seated at Claim Jumper.

Schooner or Later was the name of this restaurant. The crab omelets were to die for.

We walked on the deck where the schooners were docked awaiting our breakfast.

Crazee Burgers was wild. They offered alligator burgers and much more.

SAN DIEGO ZOO:

I don't know why I like to photograph us in parking lots, but here we are all dressed in our red T-shirts. I loved the shirts. Jarod made one for each of us. He is so generous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This isn't the whole crew but a few of us in our great looking shirts. He put a cute saying for each of us. I loved Navarre's- Lady Hawk lover and Catherine is the Lady Hawk. Mine stated: Practically perfect in every way.

NEW YEAR'S CELEBRATION:

Megan is our party animal and brought fun party favors. We had a great time bringing in the New Year. The little ones are wearing look alike pajamas I made for Christmas. Megan is wearing the infamous red T-shirts made by her talented husband, Jarod.

MALE BONDING TRIP:

Navarre, Jarod, Damon, and Steve took the 1 hour drive down to Tijuana, Mexico. They were told by the border patrol that they are lucky to be allowed back into the country. Starting in June 2009-no passport means no reentry. Jarod and Damon brought back gifts for their children. The girls are dancing the Mexican Hat dance while Josh is waiting to wrestle wearing his blue mask.

Jarod and Megan enjoying a peaceful moment -just before the storm. Josh had wandered off and it had us all in a frightful plight. Needless to say, prayers were immediately said and all darted off to find one of our greatest treasures. Within a short time he was found in the restaurant next to us.

NEWPORT BEACH PIER

Gayle and Jim Strong and their six children joined us for a fun day at the beach. Those in the strollers are: Kaela and Carly (hooked at the hip), Jaxon Strong-Gayle in pink behind him, Ava, Jack, and Josh. I'm on one end by Kaela and Carly and Steve is on the other end by Josh. I thought that it made a statement that we are encircling our loved ones.

Jarod had to eat a frozen banana. Why else would you go for a walk on the pier?

It was time for the day to end and Kaela displayed what I was feeling. I didn't want this perfect day to end either. It is toooooo fun being with my family.

AZUSA, CALIFORNIA visiting Grandma & Grandpa Val

We decided to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house before concluding our fun filled week. They were only an hour away from Newport. It was a perfect opportunity for photos. We started with the female population at the Val's that day.

Megan is our resident farmer, she loves picking fruit. She and Carly are enjoying the fruit picking experience with Grandma's tangerine tree. I keep trying to convince her to move to California so she can pick fruit all year round-wink, wink, nudge, nudge!

What a fun way to kick off the holiday season- pictures with Santa. Our good friends Sandy and Brian Blain joined in on the festivities. Our ward does a Christmas breakfast- hence the apron (I was serving egg strata to 225 people). We eat and sing and eat some more. We are anxious for more holiday cheer as we all gather in Newport, California, December 27, 2008.

Navarre and Catherine came to Visalia driving their new car. It was wonderful having them home. They've been married for 6 months. Gasoline was down from 4.00 a gallon to 1.85 per gallon. President elect Barak Obama had something to do with lifting the tariff so the price would be lowered.

Visalia Jewelry Services is open for Black Friday. Goodies Cookies is our neighbor to the left and Flower Affair to the right.

Our store is filled with jewelry, knives, swords, and other medieval artifacts. The balloons are fit for the Black Friday Sale and celebrations.

Thanksgiving was complete for me when pictures were taken with my two sisters. Mine is the unique experience being sandwiched between Jana and Sharon.

Elle's 18th Birthday/Halloween Party

Elle's 18th birthday shared with friends. She decided to have a Halloween party as well. Homemade Root Beer is in the silver bowl, frothing with dry ice- yummy! Elle was a vampire FBI agent. On the front of her shirt was FBI and on the back it read "take a bite out of crime." The ensemble was completed with vampire teeth.

4. In high school I wanted to be as popular as my twin sister,Sharon.

5. I know it seems silly, but I had always wanted to be like Sharon, she was always so confident. In order to be like her, I thought I'd need a great smile like Clarissa's, or a small waistline like Megan's, or .... yes, the list keeps going. One day I resolved that I was the best I could be and that was good enough for me. I am finally comfortable in my own skin. That is a good feeling. It only took 50 years to get there but I'm there.

Headbands R Us

Clarissa said, "Kaela, wants to do her own hair and won't let me brush it." I couldn't believe it. Kaela has always loved getting her hair put into braids to look pretty for her daddy. When they arrived on their next visit I had a hair stylin' kit ready for her. Complete with headbands and a brush and comb set just her size. Doing her own hair was serious business. She brushed it and put headbands on in a specific order.

Talk about De-Ja-Vu. Her mommy loved wearing 3 or 4 headbands at a young age as well. We complemented her on her fashion sense.

After her hair styling experience drained her, she relaxed with her feet on an ottoman (or should I say- she relaxed with her feet on a container filled with headbands, barrettes, brush and comb...). She wouldn't let the container out of her sight.

I love being a grandmother. It simply is TOOOO FUNNNN!!!!

June 2,2008 Elle's High School Graduation

Yes, she is darling! WE are so proud of her. I don't know who has the bigger smile-me because she is the last or Elle because she is so excited about the big world that awaits her.

That is Josh in the background. The Texan Valdiviesos were here visiting and were able to join in on the festivities.

I loved the homing pigeon release. It was symbolic - they fly free but always return home.

SEMINARY GRADUATION is just as important.

2008 Girls' Getaway

First stop- GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE. Elle is taking the picture. This trip was to honor Elle's graduation from high school. With the Golden Gate as the backdrop Megan, Mama Tess (Jack 7 months old), and Clarissa smile with anticipation for the day's activities to unfold. We're wearing California Dreamin' hats. Megan was thinking of Jarod who was in Texas, so we let her take her hat off (wink, wink, nudge, nudge).

Joseph Strauss had a vision to build a bridge to span the San Francisco bay. After many hurdles, the least of which was the Great Depression, his dream was finally becoming a reality. What a wonderful story to inspire us all- If you build it, they will come.

We decided to walk on the bridge and enjoy the picturesque view. The walkway was filled with beautiful foliage and flowers in bloom.

Sadly, we were not able to take the tour of Alcatraz. We'll just have to plan another trip back to San Francisco-oh darn.

If I remember correctly, The Presidio was built as a protection from enemy invasion by sea and from attack on land during the civil war.

This is the cable from the bridge. It is unbelievable how huge it is.

Next stop- Lombard Street. The most crooked street in America. The slope is approximately 26%. It takes 5 minutes to drive down the cobbled stone street at 5 mph. The scenery is gorgeous. The street is lined with purple, red, and orange hydrangeas. Simply beautiful. Megan is driving and I'm waving.

I'm lamenting how sad it is without Navarre's cherished Catherine. I'm sending her that sunflower box filled with chocolate. (We're just getting ready to eat a fabulous brownie sundae.)

As we leave San Francisco we all agreed that our Girls' Getaway was fabulous. The weather was perfect and the company simple delightful. Thanks to Megan and Clarissa we were kept in stitches all day long. They are soooooooooooooo funnnnnnnnyyyyy!!!!!

Josh's second birthday celebrated in California.

No Mexican birthday is complete without a piñata!!!!!!!!!!!!

He has Papa Steve's eyes- so handsome!

Grandma Tess made a deeeelicious ice cream cake, well- everyone ate a piece except the birthday boy. Let's just say the apple didn't fall far from the tree. His daddy didn't like sweet treats when he was 2 year old either.

Josh has a car or ball in his hands at all times. At the moment, he has a soccer ball in hand and getting ready for a drop kit. That's Damon in the background putting together the goal net for soccer.

Is he adorable or what!? Jack is 7 months old and almost crawling. He's up on all fours and rockin' but not moving his knees and hands just yet.

Carly is 3 years old and holds her soccer shin guards, purse and party hat.

Ooops, I forgot to mention how much Josh loves NEMO so we lamenated paper placemats so he can have them forever.

Carly's purse is filled with candy and fun things from the piñata. Kaela is 4 months younger than Carly. She too is enjoying the party festivities.

Ava is oozing sweetness from all the candy she's consumed. She is 4 months younger than Joshua.

Jarod is working as the sales manager at Harley Davidson in Austin, Texas. Summer is their busy time so he wasn't able to join Megan. I certainly appreciated his generosity flying them to California for three weeks. Yippeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Josh loves the outdoors especially with toys in his hands. He is creating a master piece with chalk.

I too love being outdoors. The only thing better than being outdoors is being outdoors with the grandchildren.

Sensational SEQUOIAS was a must see on our list of TO DO!!!

We will make our way to see General Sherman. The path to Gereral Sherman is about 1/2 mile down a manicured trail. We walk down with confidence not realizing the slope will be a bear to climb back up.

A pathway was cut to walk through this majestic tree. It looked like it fell many, many years ago. Mama Tess is holding Jack and running to catch up to Carly and Josh.Josh and Mama Tess are discovering all the intricacies of a boulder.

General Sherman is the largest living organism. What a magnificent sight.

We loved being in the mountains; we didn't want to leave. The sun was beginning to set; so we started walking as briskly as we could.

Josh is enjoying a ride back to the car. I know you can't see the out of shape Grandma in front of you but I'm panting and resting every few steps resolved to get into shape before I turn 52 (only 9 months away, I better stop talking about it and start doing something about it).

Fresno CHAFFEE ZOO was a big hit.

Your eyes aren't deceiving you, that's Megan with a horned owl above her head. She volunteered to be an assistant at the Bird Show.

What a perfect ending to a perfect day.

The infamous LADYBUG trek began with a frightened Mama Tess. She got out of the car and thought she'd be able to approach a snake with ease. Little did she know, she's a great big scared-y-cat. Megan caught me jumping into the air on camera.

Josh wanted to jump into the raging brook.

In the spring this bridge is covered with ladybugs. The wooden rails are filled with millions of ladybugs; they literally cascade several feet below the bridge clinging one to another. Josh was enthralled with the ants on the rail. Carly kept warning him, "Watch out, they'll bite." This did little to discourage him from touching the ants. He kept saying, "Oh, ah, oh," with a huge smile.

Picking fruit with cousins in BAKERSFIELD was as much fun as all the other activities.

Before the Texans left for home we had one more stop....downtown Visalia via the trolley.

The trolley is free gratis and lots of fun for everyone. What a wonderful three weeks. Josh loved Elle and Emm and got to know me a little better. Carly gave great big hugs and lots of sugar. Jack is a chip off the ole' block. He eats, smile, and is a very content little baby-exactly like his daddy was.

Last but certainly not least, the best part of their visit besides the hugs and kisses (a.k.a. sugar) was feeding Jack. I was privileged to be the first to feed him. What a treat!!!!!!!!!!

Just look at him; he was a pro from the get go.

We drove all the way to Utah to find a dress. Aunt Lydia was the fashion assistant. I was so grateful to have her with us. Elle and I spell disaster when we're shopping partners. Yikes!

Okay, it happened to be Navarre's wedding, and we looked for a modest dress while we were there. It was great killing two birds with one stone.

When she saw this dress....it was all she wrote. She was absolutely gorgeous. Not that I was a proud parent or anything.

Her date, Dace Taylor, was the perfect gentleman. Being handsome was an added bonus.

I hosted the dinner prior to the dance. It was fun to serve deeelicious strawberry shakes in fancy glasses topped with fabulous fresh strawberries.

Not only were the sunflowers in her bouquet dazzling, their smiles were simply radiant. That day truly was a slice of heaven on earth. Brother Workman, prior to sealing, gave them some wise counsel. He sweetly cautioned: "Never speak an unkind word of the Lord's anointed, as an endowed member of the church you are the Lord's anointed. Always address each other in a noble manner; you are a king and a queen. Serve one another willingly and joyfully. If you must argue, only celestial arguments are acceptable. This type of argument allows you to insist on your spouse's choice or need to come above your own." The spirit was evident and many silently vowed to be a better spouse.

It was a windy day but the sun was shining and the sky was breathtaking with puffs of white wispy clouds.

We couldn't be happier for Navarre.

at Catherine's home ward in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

she turned 61 on April 19th.

The following weekend an Open House was held in Visalia.

Andrew and Marie are the best siblings. They traveled from Utah to continue the celebration of their sister's wedding bliss. I was impressed with their willingness to give a lending hand.

I just loved their smiles.

Brenda's childhood friend came from North Hollywood. She also gave them free tickets to attend Disneyland on Monday. Navarre was so excited.

for movies and film industry.

No trip to Visalia would be complete
